Luciano's History

Over 30 years ago, the Centofanti family left Naples, Italy to come to the United States.  They settled in Pennsylvania where their dreams of opening a family restaurant in America came true.  Nonna Lina created authentic, Italian specialities in the kitchen of Italian cucina, while sons Gennaro and Luciano worked eagerly at the pizza counter.  Daughter Bianca began serving and attending guests as Nonno Salvatore oversaw the entire operation.

Growing up, the young Centofanti sons worked by their mother’s side, learning valuable skills that they would later implement in operating a successful restaurant business.  Perhaps, even more importantly, they learned the creativity involved in preparing the most delectable specialities using only the finest ingredients straight from the heart of Italy.

Luciano and Gennaro opened their first store in 1971, taking inspiration from the family’s trattoria in a small town outside of Naples.  Since 1984, the Centofanti’s have built the Luciano restaurant brand from their company headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, the center of the Americas that they now call home.  That humble beginning has led to a succession of extraordinary full-service restaurants and mall food locations throughout the nation.

The delightful and authentic Italian family recipes are prepared with the freshest and finest Italian ingredients.  From the fresh baked breads, perfect pasta, New York style pizza, specialty salads to the award winning truly Neopolitan pizza, all the dishes are prepared with great care from scratch.    Luciano locations call to mind quaint, rustic Italian markets.  Luciano’s beautiful hand-painted tiles, open brick oven and Italian atmosphere delight all the senses and seem to say:  “Take a break! Come in, relax and enjoy.”  This is the essence of Luciano Restaurants.

Drawing from more than 30 years of success throughout the country, the Luciano’s Express and Luciano’s Neighborhood Pizzeria franchise concepts have been developed.  The Luciano’s Express concept started as mall food court locations and would be suitable for non-traditional venues and shopping center locations, with option for pizza delivery.  Luciano’s Neighborhood Pizzeria concept was launched in 2007 at Churchill Estates Shopping Center offering quality, convenience and a family atmosphere.  In the Luciano’s Neighborhood Pizzeria concept, you will find La Cucina di Nonna Lina which is the famous open kitchen where fine cuisine is prepared once ordered and the array of Italian specialties is showcased.  The stores are different from tradiional Itallian restaurants.  Each location welcomes guests with an array of fresh salads, panini sandwiches, fresh baked breads, soups and a variety of pizzas as well as homemade calzones, stromboli, sausage rolls, lasagne, and a variety of cooked to order pasta.

The Luciano Restaurant Family continues to grow throughout the United States.  While patrons marvel at the array of hand-painted art and the colorful scheme of the casual, yet chic, dining experience, Gennaro and Luciano continue to receive rave reviews from around the world for their wonderfully prepared authentic Italian food.  The restaurants have won the very prestigious CIAO Award from the Italian Government.

The entire Centofanti Family brings you two franchise concepts where food and fabulous customer service give you the feeling of true Italian passion!
